A self-taught painter, Carylann is a graduate of Emily Carr College of Art and Design and BCIT and worked for 12 years for Network Records doing graphic design, video, motion graphics. She has created award winning CD covers for such bands as Delerium, the Hermit, and State of Grace . Her work has garnered 2 Morpheus Music awards for best CD design, and has been nominated twice for both the Junos and West Coast Music awards. Now she's brought her passion for unique artistic design direct to her clients with her new company Dope Design.
The slang term "Dope" means Super cool: Awesome ~ Excellent ~ Fabulous and that is the kind of energy that drives Carylann's process. Her designs come from an understanding of the artist's work that is gathered through deep exploration, and applied according to her own experience and training as an artist. She is passionate about collaborating with other artists and helping them realize their vision.
Carylann is a successful painter selling more than 100 paintings at her most recent show. Her understanding of the business of music and the inspiration of art gives Carylann the unique perspective that creates successful designs for her gifted clients. In the future, Carylann sees m ore work with motion visuals, and branching out into the film and fashion industries.
Always learning, Carylann achieved some impressive accolades over the last 15 years. She has earned a reputation for being business savvy, technically proficient, artistically distinct - and for being someone who just "gets it." She is, of course, totally Dope!
