Cliff Thorbes is a Vancouver based artist. After more than 20 years experience working with various media, he found himself dazzled by mosaics. "There is something about the process of mosaic that is representative of life in general. Rarely does something come together instantly. Instead it is a process of putting things together piece by piece."

Cliff's mosaic art can best be described as unique, funky, functional, contemporary and exquisite. He believes his backround in design has served him as the perfect companion for his creative energy. "I believe art must have a function other that to just look good hanging on a wall or sitting on a table. I want my client to be able to use the art they purchase whether it be as a furniture piece, a mirror, as part of a garden pathway or a structural detail as in a backsplash."

Cliff's goals for the future include the production of large scale private and public works, instructing students in the techniques of mosaic as applied to design, and travel abroad as a spokesperson for Canadian mosaic art.
