 Virginia Ivanicki has been painting since graduating from the Fine Arts course at Alberta College of Art in 1976. After graduating, she worked in many art related fields including CBS Records of Canada as the Alberta Regional Display Representative, scenic painting for theatre and live-action film and creating master background paintings for numerous television ads, animated specials and series, including painting at the Disney Studios while they were in Vancouver.
During her various jobs, Virginia kept her dream of working on her own paintings alive. In 2004 it was time to finally realize her dream. She heard about the Self-Employment. Program from another artist, applied and was accepted by Toward Excellence.
In October of last year, she started her business, 'Art Port Designs' to promote her name and artwork worldwide with original oil paintings, limited edition giclee prints and greeting cards. With the guidance of the Program, she learned how to organize her talents into a business and market, market, market! She has acquired galleries and had shows in Ft. Lauderdale , Seattle and Los Angelos, as well as Vancouver, and was favourably reviewed in the Seattle Post Intelligencer. (Fri/Aug. 12/05, Arts and Entertainment). One of her aviation paintings was chosen by the American Society of Aviation Artists to hang in their juried art show at the Patuxent River Naval Air Base Museum in Maryland with only forty-six other paintings from around the world. She is currently looking at the Asian market for her prints and more art show bookings are scheduled in 2006.
You can see Virginia's exciting work at her website. The works range from 8" x 8" to 48" x 84". Limited Edition (500) prints are available of most works. Her subjects range from fun, tropical, colourful classic car series to the more surreal WWII Bomber and Fighter airplane series and much in between. She does scenic paintings of beaches and Vancouver's character neighbourhoods. She hopes her clients will use her work on their walls to express their own individuality and passions. Her dream is to banish bland art work from the walls of the world!
